There are several friends and volunteering groups which play an essential part maintaining the history and heritage of Walton Hall and Gardens.

Whether you’re undertaking a Duke of Edinburgh award, or just a group of friends or colleagues who want to give a little something back, we welcome volunteers of all ages.

Friends of Walton Estate

The Friends of Walton Estate (FOWE) are a group of people from a wide variety of backgrounds and interests, with one thing in common – Walton Hall Estate.

Formed in 2000 to support and improve the hall and gardens, FOWE help the local community to get involved in maintaining Walton now and for future generations. For example, they have worked tirelessly in researching the Greenall family, much of which is currently on display plinths around the estate.

As well as researching and generally being experts on all things Walton, the Friends also get involved in gardening. In the past, they’ve helped create raised beds in the sensory garden and regularly contribute to maintaining borders and beds.

So, if you’re interested in joining or volunteering to help fundraise, please visit their their Facebook page. It’s completely free to join!
