We offer a wide range of events with an educational theme for your group, whether it’s for schools, youth groups, home education, disability groups or anything else, we can offer a fun educational experience. We’re also happy to tailor events to your group’s need, so please contact us and we’ll do everything we can to make your day go smoothly!

Zoo tour

This guided tour of the zoo allows you to get closer to our animals and visit some of the enclosures. We’ll meet Rocky the chicken, our herd of goats, Jemina the duck, Snowy the rabbit and Buddy the ferret. Tours are designed to fit in with the National Curriculum and focus on how animals use their senses and predator and prey relationships. However as mentioned these can be tailored to suit your class. We’re very flexible and will run events during the day or evening, whichever is easier for you!

  • Session lasts 45 minutes
  • Group size – 35 max
  • £2.50 per child
  • Minimum fee of £25 (10 children)

Zoo tour – meet and greet

Essentially the same as the zoo tour but more suitable for younger groups or groups with disabilities. These sessions focus on introducing our animals, giving the children a chance to stroke them and say hello! All education talks will be pitched at individual groups depending on their needs.

  • Session lasts 45 minutes
  • Group size – 35 max
  • £2.50 per child
  • Minimum fee of £25 (10 children)

Keeper experience

A chance to get hands on and experience what it’s like to look after our animals! We’ll split the children into groups to clean out a stable each (no more than 5 children in a group), then we’ll meet and feed the goats and visit some more of our animals! Children will learn about animal’s basic needs, hygiene and feeding. We’d recommend old clothes if you want to book this experience and we’d expect at least two responsible adults to remain and help supervise the groups along with our rangers.

  • Session lasts 90 minutes
  • Group size – 15 max (age 5+)
  • £100 per session

Additional extras

We also offer additional extras to help make your trip extra special! A warming hot chocolate or cooling ice cream (depending at what time you come in the year) can be pre-arranged through the coffee shop.

Pottery in the park – paint a pot or use the potter’s wheel can be organised via Pottery in the Park

Please note: We reserve the right to alter the animals used in ‘Zoo tour’. Events do change slightly depending on the group’s needs and behaviour. Finally all our events are suitable for groups with disabilities but may have to reflect this in group sizes.
