Summary

Walton Hall and Gardens is a finalist at Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards!

Walton Hall and Gardens has made the finalist list in two categories at the Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards 2023/24.

Organised by Marketing Cheshire, the awards recognise excellence and outstanding achievement in the region’s visitor economy.

The awards give accommodation providers, eateries and much-loved attractions the chance to show why they are a must-visit, as well as highlighting just why the region’s tourism sector is among the nation’s finest.

Our estate has been nominated in two of the keenly contested categories, including Wedding Venue of the Year, where we will be going up against Chester Zoo, Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa, Peckforton Castle, Wychwood Park Hotel, and Rookery Hall Hotel and Spa.

We’ve also been named a finalist for Visitor Attraction of the Year, facing stiff competition from Beeston Castle and Woodland Park, Cheshire Outdoor Group, Chester Cathedral, Chester Zoo, Escapism Chester, Norton Priory Museum and Gardens, and The Ice Cream Farm.

The full list of finalists, hailing from across Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, and Warrington sub-regions will be going for glory across a wide range of categories at a glittering event on 21 March next year, with some of the winners going on to represent Cheshire at the Visit England Awards for Excellence.

The announcement follows the recent news that the estate was recently awarded a Traveller’s Choice award from Tripadvisor, currently holding first place on the list of ‘Top Attractions’ in Warrington on the visitor review site.

Cllr Tony Higgins, Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet member for leisure and community, said: “I’m beyond delighted to hear that Walton Hall and Gardens has made the finalist list for not one, but two Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards.

“I’m so proud that Walton continues to be a favourite tourism destination in Warrington and to see the estate make a finalist list alongside such high-quality businesses from across the county, is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team to make the estate such a local favourite throughout the year, every year.”

Trevor Brocklebank, Chair of Marketing Cheshire and Deputy Chair of Cheshireand Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “It’s been another year of exceptional entries, and everyone shortlisted exemplifies the work that goes on to ensure Cheshire and Warrington is a truly wonderful place to live and visit.

“Our region welcomes over 36.3million visitors each year creating a visitor economy valued at over £3.7billion and the finalists all play a role in this. Judges now have the unenviable task of choosing winners in each category.”
