The incredibly popular outdoor theatre is making a comeback to the Walton estate for 2024, with a special performance of Julius Caesar.
Oddsocks Productions will be bringing their unique brand of family-friendly, laugh out loud Shakespeare performance to Walton next month on Friday 7 June.
Prepare to laugh your socks off as the bonkers but talented cast of five actors, plus a life-sized puppet or two, pitch up to perform Shakespeare as you’ve never seen it before!
Expect the tearing of togas, the swishing of roman swords, some preposterous puppetry and the biggest battle scene five actors have ever created. Celebrating 35 years of touring nationally and internationally this year, Oddsocks Productions is a family run theatre company which specialise in “hugely funny and entertaining” shows that are a “perfect introduction to Shakespeare”. Lead by actor/directors Andy Barrow and Elli Mackenzie, who also happen to be husband and wife and will both be appearing in the production.
Cllr Tony Higgins, cabinet member for communities, culture and leisure said: “We’re so pleased that the talented Oddsocks Productions team have chosen Walton to host their first production of the year.
“Their funny, family-friendly performance of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, set against the backdrop of Walton’s beautiful grounds, is the perfect summer activity for families.
“These outdoor theatre events always prove popular, so don’t risk missing out and book yours today!”
The show will take place outside in the gardens and will still take place if it is raining, so make sure you check the weather forecast beforehand and dress appropriately.
The show is suitable for audiences aged seven and over, with a total running time of two hours including the interval. The event will start at 6pm with the show starting at 7pm, and drinks will be available to purchase on site.
Ticket prices start at £10, with a limited number of deck chairs also available to purchase. Please be aware that dogs, excluding service dogs, are not allowed at Walton’s outdoor theatre events.
